In a new collaboration between smart lighting company Philips Hue and music streaming platform Spotify, you can now up the ante on your home ambience. We all change the music and lighting according to time of day, weather, or overall personal mood in our homes, but the new feature in Philips Hue’s app means that your eyes and ears can work together in perfect harmony.

With the help of fine-tuned algorithms, the app reads and interprets all songs that are played through Spotify. If you want the lift the mood on a Friday, the smart lights do not only follow the rhythm of your tracks — they also choose colours and intensity depending on the genre you’re playing.

— Being a world leader in smart lighting, we are constantly looking for new ways to offer Philips Hue users the most advanced smart lighting experience. Through innovation together with the industry leader Spotify, we are now incredibly proud to be able to offer our users an immersive integration between music and light in a way that has never been done before, says Jasper Vervoort, Business Leader Philips Hue at Signify.

In order to get your groove on, you need a Philips Hue Bridge, a couple of Philips Hue lamps and a Spotify account.
