Through Twitter, Decentraland encouraged designers, brands, and fashion enthusiasts to prepare their virtual collections for presentation at the digital event. At Decentraland, a virtual reality platform built on the Ethereum blockchain, users develop plots of land, trade, create artwork, and also NFTs. UNXD, on the other hand, is a luxury marketplace that now turns to Decentraland for its first-ever fashion week.
The event, novel on the platform, will take place between March 24 to March 27. Attendants can view the shows in a virtual environment and purchase the garments for their avatars.
— We believe NFTs are bigger than digital alone. With a team from the luxury/culture and physical world, UNXD’s NFTs aim to bring “tangibility” into the NFT space. Our starting point is intertwining the digital and physical worlds, shared UNXD in a statement.
So is this virtual fashion situation actually going to be a thing?
Well, in September last year UNXD collaborated with the Italian label Dolce & Gabbana in the release of an NFT nine-piece collection personally designed by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. Under the name of Collezione Genesi, the collection was highly successful in a matter of sales, reaching nearly 6 million dollars and proving that there is a clear target group highly interested in these items.
