Fors and Lundström are sisters-in-law and founders of Bagliora, an emerging Scandinavian skincare brand made in Sweden focusing on transparency and sustainability. Powered by superfood ingredients, the science-based formulations contain a combination of nutritious and skin-loving ingredients such as antioxidants, omega-fatty acids, prebiotics, and vitamins for the skin needs to stay healthy and strong.
— We have been on the market for almost 2.5 years now and we are steadily growing our brand. This summer we are launching two new products; a Hydrating light cream and an SPF 50 face fluid with our eye cream set to launch in September, the duo say.
Our favourite thing that makes us proud of Gothenburg:
— Gothenburg is Sweden’s second-largest city but has a very homey ambience and cosy feeling about it. The city centre is very tight and easily walkable and contains loads of cafés and restaurants. Also, we have the beautiful archipelago right by the city — the reason for this side of Sweden — the west coast — being called ’the Best Coast’.
Our favourite weekend routine:
— We love to start of the morning with a sweaty class at Barry’s Bootcamp followed up with brunch at Le-GBG, enjoying some superfood boosted American pancakes. We live close to the ocean so a walk with the dog along the shore is compulsory during the afternoon. If the weather is right, the best thing we know is to take a boat trip around the archipelago and visit Knarrholmen, a super cosy island with small beaches and beautiful cliffs, which is only a 15-minutes boat ride away. The perfect way to round of the day is with dinner at Knarrholmen Restaurant.
Our favourite place for dining out:
— Cheri-Lee is situated right in the middle of the city and serves modern pan-Asian cuisine. It has a relaxed vibe and a beautiful outdoor pavilion where you can enjoy both fresh drinks and people-watching.
Our favourite cultural spot:
— The Gothenburg Museum of Arts is situated on the very top of Kungsportsavenyn in the very heart of Gothenburg. It is a magnificent building with an amazing view over Gothenburg centre and has one of the foremost collections of art in Northern Europe. You can find masterpieces both by Picasso and Van Gogh alongside many famous Swedish painters.
Our favourite place for a creative or business meeting:
— A great place to meet up both for business, conference, lunch, and dinner is at Elite Park Avenue Hotel where there are both spacious conference rooms as well as great hangout and food at the in-house restaurant At Park.
Our favourite breakfast place:
— The best breakfast in town you will find at Mr CAKE which is situated right by the harbour entrance Stenpiren where all the commercial boat transfers are. A superb mixture of American bakery and Swedish traditional ’Fika’ — coffee and cakes — means that you will definitely have a sweet experience.
Our favourite excursion:
— Knarrholmen island just outside Gotheburg is a great day trip if you want to experience the archipelago. Take the tram to Saltholmen and from there, as mentioned, you go by boat 15 minutes to the island. Don’t forget to bring a swimsuit and make sure to book a table at Knarrholmen restaurant — it’s quite popular in the summertime.
Our favourite local entrepreneur or creative I/we want to promote:
— We really admire Albin Johansson and Max Svärdh, the founders of Axel Arigato. They have done an amazing journey with their brand. Our good friend Sofia Appelgren is the founder of Mitt Liv (My Life), an organization working on increasing diversity and inclusion by getting immigrants into the labour market. A very necessary and admirable work and effort for both newly arrived and the community.
Our favourite hotel for a staycation:
— We love to stay with our friends who run the ESS Group such as decadent French-decorated Pigalle or Italian-themed Bellora. And we can’t wait to explore their new destination hotel opening later this year, Jacy’z.
Our favourite route for a run or walk:
— A run or walk through the city’s biggest park Slottskogen is a classic. Also when bringing the kids a visit to the seal pond is always a favourite.
Our favourite place for fashion:
— For great hand-picked and curated fashion, we always go to the Wakakuu flagship store in Nya Hovås. This spacious store is probably the most beautiful store in Sweden right now. So worth the visit just 20 minutes away from the city.
Our favourite space for great design:
— Artilleriet is still a classic that attracts interior-interested people from all around the world. At their combined store and showroom you find exclusive and handpicked furniture, lighting, and home décor. Also don’t miss their kitchen store just around the corner or grab a coffee at the backyard of Da Matteo just outside the store.
Our favourite example of tech innovation in Gothenburg:
— Gotheburg has a fast-growing tech scene. It’s really exciting what’s happening right now over at Lindholmen Science Park, with the establishment of The Yard — a new startup environment for fast-growing tech companies.
Our favorite local media (newspaper/magazine/website/social media account):
— GP (the Gothenburg Post) is a classic newspaper with a long tradition and roots in Gothenburg. Nowadays we only read the online version.
Our favourite thing at home:
— The closeness to the ocean is something that one really appreciates living in Gothenburg. A picnic or takeaway meal at the cliffs of Smithska Udden is something we would highly recommend.
