Birkenstock has been a recognisable figure in the Scandinavian fashion space for decades now, but the over 200-year-old footwear brand is steadily taking steps into a more modern and urban space. Like we’ve covered before, Birkenstocks, or ”birken” for short, are no more the go-to sandals for a comfortable and durable outdoor experience when on vacation.
The recent 1774 drop is no exception. The name of the collection is a hint towards the birth year of the company and pays homage to the heritage Arizona and Boston styles, but still adds a fair share of modern and elegant edge.

The full leather Arizona model gets a crocodile effect in black slim leather, and the signature Birkenstock buckle is drenched in a polished gold exterior. The Boston model takes the heritage job a step further with the distinguished cork-latex footbed that so often is associated with the brand. On top of the smooth Nappa lining and suede upper, the Boston comes with canvas straps and smooth gold buckles.
The drop is available in January next year, both the Arizona and Boston arrive with a 1774 logo imprinted in the footbed, and an exclusive shoe box and dust bag in 1774-design.
