The mysterious tech company Nothing, ran by former OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, has recently declared that its design mission will be held responsible by audio and synthesizer company Teenage Engineering. Jesper Kouhoofd, founder and CEO of Teenage Engineering, will act as a visionary guide for partner Tom Howard, who has been appointed as the head of design.
It is still not clear yet what products Nothing will focus on, but what we do know is that the London-based start-up is “dedicated to removing the barriers between people and technology to create a seamless digital future”. The confirmed collaboration with Teenage Engineering could indicate that Nothing’s product line will include audio-related products, but it is still up to debate.
— When Carl first told me about Nothing’s vision I remember being super excited thinking about how this would be translated into the design identity of the products, said Jesper Kouthoofd, and added to the ambiguity by adding:
— After months of research and development, we are now in a place where I believe we will have something exciting to show to the world.
The public still relies on cryptic messages and rumours, but investors seem to know more. Tony Fadell, listed as the inventor of the iPod and the co-inventor of the iPhone, YouTuber and vlogger Casey Neistat, Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin, and Reddit co-founder and CEO Steve Huffman are all investors as of yet.
