Later in November, between 26th and 30th to be exact, the new Stockholm Creative Tech Week will open its doors for the very first time. The city-wide event will act as a stage for creative and cultural initiatives within music, film, TV, gaming, e-sports, and fashion to showcase their potential and exciting development.
— The creative and cultural industries contribute to Stockholm’s economy with innovation, jobs and growth. But they are also a crucial part of the city’s identity and attractiveness, closely linked to our hospitality industry. Stockholm’s creative and cultural industries play a crucial role in the economic recovery after the pandemic, says Anna König Jerlmyr, Mayor of Stockholm, and one of the speakers at Stockholm Creative Tech Week.
The week also offers great opportunities for local and international investors to network with the creative minds of Stockholm. What a lot of people don’t know is that Stockholm-based creative and cultural industries produce more turnover than several of the country’s biggest industries. In 2018, for example, creative and cultural industries reached a total turnover of 217 billion SEK. That is more than both the retail industry (160 billion) and the food industry (195 billion).
To further spice up the five tech days in Stockholm, the already established Helsinki based version SLUSH will pick up where Creative Tech Week ends. A so-called ”Tech Boat” will take people across the baltic sea to the Finnish Capital on December 1 for another couple of days of inspiring technology and innovation discussions. Hopefully the start of a Nordic South by Southwest, perhaps.
