The London-based designer once worked for Weekday as a sales assistant and then as a womenswear designer, before going on to launch his eponymous label. Nowadays, he shows on schedule at London Fashion Week, and developing the new Weekday capsule, he tells, comes with a feeling of being close to home.
— It was very much like that feeling of wanting to make your parents proud. This is a collection for someone who values freedom of expression and appreciates craft.
Subverting ideas of hypermasculinity into something softer and more inclusive, the gender-neutral capsule includes reworked jersey and denim. The project touches two of Weekday’s core questions — how to circulate materials cleverly and push the boundaries on denim production. Five pieces (two pairs of jeans, a hoodie, a tee, and a kilt), remade from previous collections, online exclusive in a very limited edition.
—We dropped a small capsule of handmade pieces with Per Götesson last year and our community loved it, so we decided to team up again, says Anna Norling, head of design Weekday, adding,
— In recent years, we’ve undergone a shift in how to forecast, develop, and produce our products closer to demand, which has resulted in much less deadstock. It is an ongoing and important part of our responsibility work. Limited edition collections like this provide a great opportunity to upcycle unsold garments and take full advantage of these resources.
