The Swedish company’s plastic rug style Vera celebrates its 20th birthday this fall. To celebrate, Pappelina presents Vera 2.0 Bio Edition, made of Biovyn — described as the next-generation PVC. While conventional PVC, the company states, is a long-lasting material with a very low carbon footprint, Biovyn is something completely new.

The Vera 2.0 Bio edition.
Made of crude wood-based tall oil — a residue of the pulp-making process used for paper production and a part of responsible wood sourcing — Biovyn is bio-attributed (when the bio-based component is ’attributed’ to the final product, Ed’s note) and carbon-neutral. The material is made using 100% renewable feedstock, delivering a reduction in the carbon footprint of more than 90%.
Pappelina’s Vera 2.0 Bio edition is limited yet one step towards carbon neutrality — and the company explains that the focus is set to develop the concept further.
