For their fifth collaboration, adidas and Marimekko present versatile pieces in high-performance tech-material. The capsule uses the latter’s two archive prints from the 60s, Linssi (recognised by the vertical oval-shaped circles) and Lokki (characterized by the wavy pattern inspired by sun and shade playing across fabric). Rebekka Bay, creative director at Marimekko, explains that both of them were created to bring people energy and joy.

— To see them come alive through movement, and supported by adidas’ world-class performance technology, is incredible. This collection is a modern expression of print and a wonderful legacy for the next generation to enjoy, she says.

The collection is designed for movement and includes recycled materials and Parley Ocean Plastic, an environmental organization and global network aiming to raise awareness about the damaging consequences of ocean waste. Together with industry partners, including adidas, they work to prevent plastic from entering the oceans. Instead, it can be transformed into sportswear, or as Parley put it: ’spinning the problem into a solution, the threat into thread’. The plastic waste is collected from beaches and coastal communities and is then transformed into yarn fibres, replacing virgin plastics. It’s also used as sales support items, such as hangers and mannequins, in several adidas retail spaces.

— Using our leading performance innovation for ultimate comfort and style, we’ve created something for everyone across our collection to
inspire all forms of movement and adventure this spring. This collection embodies the expressive, varied, and conscious lifestyle of our Gen Z community, Aimee Arana, Global Senior Vice President adidas Sportswear & Training, comments.
