L:a Bruket links two bathing cultures

The new collection from the Swedish organic brand features a new range of body care products which includes a hand and body wash, body lotion, and hand cream. The name, Hinoki, comes from the Japanese cypress carrying the same name — a tree closely linked to sacred spaces and meditation — and the fragrance is a fusion of citrus and black pepper followed by cedarwood. All ingredients are 100% COSMOS-certified and the concept is an exploration of the native bastu (sauna) and cold bath practices, echoing the links between the two countries’ bathing cultures.

After being the first beauty retailer to campaign against animal testing in cosmetics in 1989, The Body Shop now has achieved the ambitious target it set itself in 2021, when 60% of its products already carried the mentioned trademark. The vegan cosmetics industry is predicted to grow with 6.31% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) between until 2028, when reaching $24 billion. With over one in ten young people saying that ’vegan’ is an important factor in their health and beauty purchase decisions, this move also responds to growing customer demands.
