After graduating as a graphic designer from Royal Danish Academy – Architecture, Design, Conservation in 2007, Copenhagen-based Kristina Dam worked as a graphic designer before founding her own studio in 2011. Ever since, she’s worked with a design approach that she calls Sculptural Minimalism.

— What we mean is that when we design products, we work with a sculptural approach — designs with character, style, and a bold expression that will add something extra to your interior. With each collection, at least one new sculpture is launched. The graphic and architectural, sculptural quality and approach are visible in all our designs, she explains.

This spring, celebrating the 10th anniversary, the studio presents its biggest sculpture to date, named Frame, which recently premiered during Maison&Objet in Paris.

— The curves and sharp geometric straight lines originate from many of the shapes already seen in our collection. When you move around Frame, it takes on different expressions that make it attractive as a work of art and at the same time, we have designed it, so it also functions as a side table. This multifunction is the spirit of our studio — many of our pieces of furniture have many features and capabilities. It’s minimalistic and easily decorable, can stand both inside and outdoors, and truly creates a character for the space you place it in.

The launch of The Frame Sculpture will be followed by a special anniversary exhibition for 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen in June.

— And this spring, says Kristina Dam, we also introduce our new bathroom series, which adds tactility from small apricot grains in the soap and texture in towels with graphic patterns, together with minimalist mirrors with dowel detail and beautiful material combinations.
