This upcoming summer the family-owned concern Nobis Hospitality Group will open up its first hotel outside of Scandinavia. The location is Palma de Mallorca and the hotel is a small boutique hotel compromised of 31 rooms and suites with facilities such as restaurants and a terrace.
The hotel is built in a historical building from the 16th century, which earlier has been an old soap factory. It is situated in central Palma de Mallorca nestled between the popular neighbourhood Santa Catalina and the old town.
— The first time I visited the building that we are now converting to Concepció by Nobis, it felt right. It is important for me to go into projects where the gut feeling is correct from the first moment. Now we are creating a personal boutique hotel with a Mediterranean twist on the Scandinavian aesthetic that has become synonymous with Nobis. We look forward to opening our first hotel outside the Nordics and expanding into the Spanish market, says Alessandro Catenacci, owner and founder of Nobis Hospitality Group.
The hotel is a continuation of the collaboration between Nobis and the renowned Swedish architecture firm, Wingårdhs. Concepció by Nobis is realised in the same spirit as the award-winning project Blique by Nobis. That is, a combination of old and new, but this time with Scandinavian aesthetics combined with Mediterranean warmth. The hotel is done also with contributions from Spanish architetural firms Jordi Herrero Arquitectos och Eduardo Garcia Acuna Arquitecto.
Within the hotel, restored spaces are united with materials that will age gracefully through the years such as wood, leather and wool. This is then put together with the ceramic tiles permeating the whole building, designed by Wingårdhs and locally produced by the Mallorcan tile company Huguet.
