”I’m proud that Aalborg is Denmark’s number one sports city”
On art and top-notch wining and dining
RUNE SPLIID

Rune Spliid is the commercial director of RareWine invest, a company working with wine investment and supporting over 700 investors worldwide. The Danish company recently expanded to Sweden with a new office in Stockholm.

My favourite thing that makes me proud of Aalborg:

That Aalborg is Denmark’s number one sports city.

My favourite weekend routine:

A quiet morning with my family, starting the day with having breakfast and coffee in the garden with my girlfriend.

My favourite cultural spot:

The beautiful nature around Noah’s Ark is differently the city’s best view.

My favourite place for dining out:

Out of many, I would recommend Applaus for social-dinning, Dejavu for a classic French bistro and Fusion for some great Omakase. I would always recommend a visit to these places.

My favourite place for a glass of wine:

At the RareWine office, of course!

My favourite place for a creative or business meeting:

Aalborg has many nice places for a good business meeting. I would suggest Helmuth, Spiret, or cafe Vesterå.

My favourite breakfast place:

Surdejsbageren. A sourdough bakery with a simple but lovely breakfast.

Vesterå.

My favourite city escape:

Kridtgraven in the west part of the city. It’s a chalk pit with the best swimming and running area in the city.

My favourite local entrepreneur or creative I want to promote:

Mark Nielsen, CEO, and co-founder of Coolshop

My favourite hotel for a staycation:

Hotel Scheelsminde.

My favourite route for a run or walk:

Besides Kridtgraven, running along the Harbor in the centre of Aalborg is great.

My favourite place for fashion:

Shaping New Tomorrow and deKARL.

My favourite space for great design:

Local painter Morten Andersen has his working space close to the RareWine Office. The workflow of artists is quite different to my profession, but I find it extremely interesting to visit and talk with people with so much passion for their job.

My favourite example of tech innovation in Aalborg:

The start of the sport-tech brand Tonsser started in Aalborg before founder Peter & Simon moved to Copenhagen. I love the platform the boys have innovated over the years with a passion for football and helping young people to a better career.

My favourite local media:

MyAalborg is incredibly informative on social media about activities in the city.

My favourite thing at home:

My family comes in first place, my coffee machine second!
