”Our strong creative community really puts honour and effort into supporting each other”
On a city that breathes creativity
19 Mar 2021

Cecilie Thorsmark is the CEO of Copenhagen Fashion Week. Along with Thorsmark’s appointment in 2018 came her announcement to transition the event into a pioneering industry platform with the capacity to further the industry’s sustainability potential.

— Fashion weeks are a symbolic, cultural focal point of the fashion world, a platform where new visions, trends and talents emerge. I believe we hold tremendous potential to drive change and support radical transformation and visionary minds that propel the industry’s sustainability agenda, Cecilie says.

My favourite thing that makes me proud of this city:

Our strong creative community really puts a true honour and effort into supporting each other and lifting each other.

My favourite weekend routine:

Getting out of bed as the very last person in my family. And being spoiled enough that breakfast usually will be ready once I join the rest of the family.

My favourite cultural spot:

The Royal Danish Theatre.

My favourite place for dining out:

Italo Disco.

My favourite place for a creative or business meeting:

Currently anywhere but my computer would be exotic.

My favourite breakfast place:

Café Granola (full disclosure: co-owner is my boyfriend).

My favourite city escape:

Our summerhouse in Rørvig, no doubt.

My favourite hotel for a staycation:

Our CPHFW partner Hotel Skt Petri which is an oasis for relaxation in the city or their new sister hotel Villa Copenhagen that has a heated rooftop pool overlooking Tivoli.

My favourite route for a run or walk:

Always the shortest one.

My favourite place for fashion:

Frederiksberg. During the last 10 years, the area around Værnedamsvej has grown into a little hotspot for some of the best fashion stores – brand stores like GanniWood Wood and Mr Larkin, high-end multi-brand retailers like Black as well as excellent vintage and pre-owned shops like Tootsie and I Blame Lulu.

My favourite space for great design:

Studio X in the city centre.

My favourite local media:

My favourite thing at home:

Our Verner Panton living tower.
