Hosted by Scandinavian Outdoor Group (SOG) since 2005, the award aims to support product and design innovations as well as to promote new Scandinavian outdoor products. At last week’s ISPO in Munich five new winners were announced for Scandinavian Outdoor Award
Fall/Winter 24/25.
The most prestigious award, Overall Winner, was handed out to Bergans of Norway, for The Y LightLine Weightless Down Jacket.
Weighing only 280 grams, the jacket has been tailored for the conscious adventurer unwilling to compromise on warmth, weight, or packability. Made for brisk mountain runs as well as ski tours, it impressed the jury by hitting all the criteria for the top prize. Especially impressive is the warmth to weight ratio, described as better than any down jacket the jury has seen before. It proved cozy enough for several testers to wear with nothing but a base layer underneath on a big snowshoe hike. All the details — from hood to zipper — were proved to be functional. The wide baffles give plenty of space for the down to create heat-holding loft without bulk. And from a sustainability standpoint, Bergans stands out for both the materials in this jacket and in its commitments company-wide.
