For the first time ever, Copenhagen International Fashion Fair (CIFF) will have a partner stand at ISPO Munich (3-5 December 2024), where brands from the denim, sportswear, streetwear, and sneaker sectors will showcase the very best of new Danish design.
CIFF will present sports fashion concepts within the Zeitgeist by ISPO area, which traditionally come more from the fashion sector. We caught up with CIFF director Sofie Dolva to ask her about the collaboration.
What inspired the collaboration between CIFF and ISPO, and why is now the right time to bring these two platforms together?
– The collaboration between CIFF and ISPO was inspired by the increasing convergence of fashion and sportswear. Both platforms have a strong commitment to innovation and are leaders in their respective industries. Now is the perfect time to bring these two worlds together as consumers are seeking more functional, performance-driven fashion while at the same time valuing design and aesthetics. By merging our expertise, we can better serve brands and buyers across countries and industry borders who are looking for cutting-edge solutions in sportswear and fashion.
How will the merging of fashion and sportswear, particularly at ISPO Munich, benefit Scandinavian fashion and lifestyle brands?
– The blending of fashion and sportswear, especially in a globally renowned event like ISPO Munich, offers Scandinavian brands the opportunity to tap into a growing market segment. Scandinavian fashion is known for its minimalist yet functional design, which resonates with the sportswear industry’s focus on practicality and performance. This collaboration will provide these brands with a platform to showcase their unique aesthetic to a broader, more diverse audience, helping them expand their reach and influence on an international scale.

CIFF has a strong focus on design and innovation. How do you see this aligning with ISPO’s focus on sports and athleisure, and how can brands take advantage of this synergy?
– CIFF has always been at the forefront of design and innovation, and we see a natural alignment with ISPO’s focus on sports and athleisure. As sportswear increasingly incorporates fashion-forward designs, brands can leverage this synergy to create products that not only perform but also appeal to style-conscious consumers. By partnering with ISPO, we’re enabling brands to push the boundaries of what’s possible in this hybrid space, combining functionality with cutting-edge design.
What specific opportunities will the collaboration offer Scandinavian brands in terms of international exposure and market expansion, particularly in sports fashion?
– The collaboration between CIFF and ISPO opens up significant opportunities for Scandinavian brands to gain international exposure, particularly in the sports fashion market. ISPO Munich is a global hub for sports innovation, and by participating, Scandinavian brands will have access to a wide network of buyers, investors, and industry leaders. This platform will allow them to showcase their commitment to design, innovation, and sustainability on a global stage, driving market expansion.
As sportswear and fashion increasingly overlap, what key trends or innovations are you seeing in both industries that you feel will drive this collaboration forward?
– We are seeing several key trends that underscore the importance of this collaboration. One is the growing demand for athleisure, where the line between sportswear and everyday fashion is increasingly blurred. Another is the push towards sustainable, performance-enhancing materials that align with the values of both the fashion and sportswear industries. These innovations are driving the market forward, and this collaboration allows us to be at the forefront of these trends, offering brands a unique opportunity to capitalise on this evolution.
For Scandinavian brands focused on sustainability, how will this partnership with ISPO support their growth and commitment to eco-friendly practices?
– Sustainability is a core value for many Scandinavian brands, and our partnership with ISPO will help support their growth even further. ISPO has a strong focus on sustainable innovation, and by collaborating, we can provide brands with the resources, network, and platform needed to advance their eco-friendly practices. Together, we are committed to promoting responsible production and consumption, making sustainability a central part of this collaboration.
What role do you envision CIFF playing in shaping the future of fashion, both within Scandinavia and globally, through collaborations like this one with ISPO?
– CIFF aims to play a key role in shaping the future of fashion, both within Scandinavia and globally, through strategic collaborations like this one with ISPO. By bringing together different industries and fostering cross-sector innovation, we are creating new pathways for brands to grow and thrive. This partnership is just the beginning, and we are excited to continue leading the way in creating meaningful, impactful collaborations that push the boundaries of fashion, design, and sustainability across borders and generations.
