5 Norwegian brands create limited editions for department store Steen & Strøm’s 225th anniversary
Holzweiler, Varsity, Mono, F5, and Sprekenhus present a Special Jubilee Collection for the prominent retailer, available in a special pop-up in central Oslo until mid-August.

Skincare brand Sprekenhus was founded by Alexander Sprekenhus in 2010 and the sleek packaging and unique fragrances have helped the company secure a strong position in a competitive market. For the 225th anniversary, the label has customized Beau Nord, described as ”a captivating fragrance” that will become the in-store scent of Steen & Strøm.

Also based in Oslo, F5 is a small, independent family business, run by brothers Emil, Benjamin and Alexander Krystad Marthinsen, and the F5 Concept Store stock exclusively Norwegian design. To honour Steen & Strøm’s anniversary, the brothers and their small team have created T-shirts with prints on the back featuring the 225 logo created by esteemed graphic designer Lotta Nieminen.

mono is a unisex footwear brand born in 2019 with an ambition is to create artisan goods focusing on comfort and assembled with high-quality elements. For this line, the label has created a special edition of footwear, a colourful canvas shoe right in time for the summer.

Varsity Headwear creates caps that stand the test of time. When asked to create something for Steen and Strøm’s anniversary, the brand wanted to come up with a creative way to celebrate the rich history. They decided to collaborate with a young artist, Sophia Sørholt, who has made unique caps for the celebration. They will be auctioned off and the money will go to UNICEF.

After running their own fashion agency for years, siblings Susanne and Andreas Holzweiler now celebrate their first decade running the leading Norwegian contemporary fashion brand. For the Special Jubilee Collection, Holzweiler looked through their own archives and present a collection of silk scarves. Each scarf has been printed with the 225 logo created by the mentioned Nieminen promoting circularity and prolonging the product life cycle.
