Niclas Ahlström on manoeuvring a Nordic design Mecca
Niclas is the co-founder of Made by Choice, a Finnish design house, and owner of various design and technology-related companies in Finland and abroad. He founded the company in 2015 together with Sebastian Jansson and Lasse Laine to create bespoke furniture, which eventually led to collaborations with Matthew Day Jackson, Thomas Sandell, Matti Klenell, Harri Koskinen, and Shane Schneck, to name a few.

As the founder and curator of the award-winning concept store and gallery Lokal in the heart of Helsinki, Hagelstam breathes Finnish art and design. Since the opening in 2012, she’s curated close to 60 exhibitions at the gallery and various other locations in Finland and abroad. She enjoys nothing more than providing a platform for a creative community to flourish, all the while promoting sustainable, ethical, and ecological values within the field.
