Blugiallo has received the Encouragement for Action 2025 sustainability award, an initiative founded in 2018 by Stockholm Fashion District to promote responsible development and innovation in the Swedish fashion industry.
The award was presented on last week following a jury process and an in-depth review by the award’s ethical council, led by Philip Warkander, PhD in fashion studies and senior lecturer at the Swedish School of Textiles in Borås. The jury highlights the company as an example of how digital tools and production on demand can reduce overproduction and environmental impact in fashion.
In its motivation, the jury points to Blugiallo’s on-demand production model and digital fitting tools, where each garment is produced only after an order is placed. According to the jury, this is “a concrete step towards eliminating overproduction and promoting more conscious consumption”, while demonstrating how technical innovation can be translated into practical sustainability.
The jury also emphasises the brand’s focus on quality, transparency and timeless design, stating that Blugiallo shows that made-to-measure fashion is “not only about aesthetics, but about responsibility for both people and the environment”. Founders Alexander Moström and Daniel Apler are credited with driving a vision in which made-to-measure represents a future production model for the industry.
– The fashion industry is in a period of transformation, where creativity, innovation and digital competence are crucial. By highlighting companies that dare to challenge established structures, we want to inspire more actors to contribute to the change the industry is facing, says Helena Waker, CEO of Stockholm Fashion District.
– Blugiallo shows that sustainability engagement can be both business-driven and visionary. They are a clear example of how companies can create value for both customers and society, while driving real change in our industry, she adds.
Stockholm Fashion District is Sweden’s business hub for the fashion industry, bringing together around 140 permanent showrooms alongside fairs, events, education programmes and industry forums, with the aim of strengthening collaboration, business development and innovation-driven sustainability.
