The world’s largest gaming center, Space, opens in Stockholm

The city center of Sweden’s capital is now transforming into a more open, safe, and inviting place. This includes the fifth Hötorgshuset, an iconic building which, from this weekend on, will carry Space Stockholm. The concept is world-unique – both in terms of size and what’s included in it. It combines the most important parts of digital culture — gaming, music, esports, and ”content creation” for digital platforms — and aims to engage and include people through experiences in entertainment, digital culture, and the gaming world.

— With over 400 gaming stations, we’re the world’s largest gaming center and an open, dynamic, and creative place right in the city center, says Åsa Caap, Head of Space.

How’d you describe it?

— As a digital culture center — a physical meeting place for the digital generation, combining gaming, content creation, music, a store, co-work, and a meeting place, under one roof. We offer a one-of-a-kind gaming destination that redefines the gaming experience, with state-of-the-art computers and consoles provided by our partners for casual and competitive gamers. We have also made sure visiting us is not only a fun and rewarding experience, but also a competitive one. Once you sign up via our app you become part of our loyalty program. Almost everything you do at Space will reward you with experience points — the currency that enables you to level up. Each level is portrayed by a certain avatar — the higher the level, the more powerful the avatar. Our Space Club is a physical meeting place for our 20+ guests, a gaming bar for a night out with friends, and we will host nightgibs during weekends and school holidays, Caap tells, adding,

— Our Space Academy will offer tech courses, inspirational talks, and bootcamps within coding, Scratch and Python to begin with. By educating youth, lifting role models and engaging future employers we can make a real impact. We want to nurture upcoming talent, raise curiosity, and empower the next generation to dive deep into the possibilities of tech development.

The bottom of the house carries northern Europe’s largest permanent esports arena created for hybrid events in gaming, concerts, and esports. Space also includes an Asian brasserie, bars, and cafes, and the Avicii museum, Avicii Experience, will open in the spring of 2022.

The idea of the concept was initiated in 2019 and it’s been developed to be able to be exported internationally. Space opens to the public at 10:00 tomorrow, on November 27.
