The award aims to showcase the best of the region from all corners of the ecosystem and includes categories ranging from Ecosystem Hero of the Year (Danish entrepreneur Mia Grosen this year) to Best Accelerator/Incubator Program (Katapult Ocean, Norway), Best co-working space (Impact Hub, Sweden), and Best AI/Machine Learning Startup (Norwegian Glint Solar). Each year, country winners are chosen in eleven categories that go on to compete with the rest of the Nordics at the final. For the past few years, the award ceremony has taken place in Copenhagen but will now be brought to Iceland within the context of the annual Iceland Innovation Week in Reykjavik. Finally, The Nordic winners will go on to represent the Nordic startup ecosystem worldwide at Global Startup Awards. One of them is this year’s winner of Startup of the year, IQM.

In two years, the Espoo-based company has grown to 100+ employees. It is now the European leader in superconducting quantum computers, delivering to supercomputing centres and industrial customers.
