Who are you?
— I’m born and raised in the northern part of Sweden in the small town named Skellefteå. I have worked with sales and marketing all my life, which has the ability to please my winning instinct, and is now Head of Sales at staircase company Drömtrappor, based in the small city of Norsjö in Västerbotten, where we also have our own factory. Beyond this, my family and music are a big and important part of my life.
For someone who hasn’t been to Västerbotten, how’d you describe it?
— It offers all you need thanks to its location. Whether you prefer winter or summer, forest or city, sea or lake, hunting or discovering, Västerbotten has it all. You will certainly discover some new perspectives if you’re a first-time visitor.
My favourite thing that makes me proud of Västerbotten:
— The first thing that comes to mind is our world-loved cheese, Västerbottensost. For the ones who hasn’t tasted it, just do. The great thing about it is that you can use it to almost everything and it tastes wonderful. Not to be forgotten is also our own hockey team Skellefteå AIK — one of the proudest brands that we have in Skellefteå.
My favourite weekend routine:
— When it comes to my weekends, I like to start them without any stress. Get up right after the kids and then make a peaceful, but easy, breakfast without having to look at the watch during the morning. Then after lunch, I prefer some outdoor activities with the family which often leads to downhill skiing, playing in the garden, or going to the beach.
My favourite place for a creative or business meeting:
— Our own landmark in Skellefteå, Sara kulturhus. It’s lovely, constructed from wood from the forests surrounding, one of the tallest wooden buildings in the world, and is the perfect place to meet.
My favourite breakfast place:
— Even if I love eating breakfast at a café or hotel, I prefer our home for breakfast, especially during the weekend. Mostly because it’s the most peaceful place where you can start the day as you want, with the breakfast you like, and use the time as you want to.
My favourite excursion:
— In the winter, our family often choose the ski slope in a small village called Malå. The perfect place for skiing with the children thanks to the child-friendly slopes and access to other family activities right in the centre of this village.
My favourite cultural spot:
— In Skellefteå we have an old church town called Bonnstan, which dates back to the 1600s. The history of the place, location right beside the river, and the well-preserved buildings makes this place one of my favourites.
My favourite local entrepreneur or creative I want to promote:
— We have a company making beautiful candles by hand called Lowima. They started 2013 and has since then lit up the houses in Skellefteå.
My favourite route for a run or walk:
— I prefer our classic route in the city centre, called Broarna runt (Around the bridges). It’s 5km long, which is a long enough distance for me, around the lake, where you are running over two bridges — hence the name.
My favourite hotel for a staycation:
— Wood Hotel which is placed in the mentioned iconic building Sara kulturhus. Everything about the hotel radiates the feeling of wood thanks to the building, the rooms, and the interior. And, when you go into a room you will smell the wood.
My favourite space for great design:
— Nordanå in Skellefteå which is placed in a lovely part of the town, and it is also there we have the Skellefteå Museum.
My favourite example of tech innovation in Västerbotten:
— North Kingdom, a global experience design studio. They started in Skellefteå in 2003 and has since then worked with global brands like Google, LEGO, and Meta.
My favourite place for dining out:
— Bryggargatan. They opened in 2004 and has since then been a go-to-place for a lot of the people in town. According to me, they were first out with a high-quality restaurant which we didn’t have back then. It’s placed in the centre of Skellefteå right beside the lake which runs through the town, so the combination of the location, the Nordic-inspired food, and the environment makes this also my go-to restaurant.
My favourite local media:
— Skellefteatipsar on social media is an account that gives tips on things to do and see in Skellefteå which is really helpful when you want to experience something new.
My favourite thing at home:
— Right now, probably our new terrace placed south-west which makes our spring so much more enjoyable. We built our house a couple of years ago and it is on a hill so it’s windy from time to time. So, we then realised that we needed a place where the wind couldn’t find us and where we still have the sun. This place is the perfect spot.
