Stockholm-based Peter Häggström Lindecrantz is a former Olympic athlete, sixfold Swedish champion in long jump, and the founder and CEO of performance wear brand YMR Track Club — a celebration of his former track and field club.
— I founded the brand as a celebration to IK Ymer on their 100th anniversary, he tells.
The brand just launched The Sun Run, a collab capsule with iconic Finnish Karhu, who hosted the event Sun Run in 1983.
— Back then, Häggström Lindecrantz tells, the race took place from the northern part of Finland to Sweden. We have made a capsule together containing singlets, t-shirt, sweatshirts, and a shoe called Ikoni. The capsule — except the shoe — is OEKO-TEX Class 1 certified and designed and knitted in Sweden, just like my brand’s other garments. The look is very much about the midnight sun with bright retro colours and feeling and includes both performance and casual wear garments. The Sun Run singlet is made from superlight fabrics derived completely from recycled plastics and made for fast running.
As part of the capsule, YMR Track Club and Karhu hosted an event last weekend, running from Finland to Sweden again, just like in the grand old days.
— This time, it was not a competitive race, but more about the experience of running together as a small crew and experiencing the wild nature and the midnight sun, Häggström Lindecrantz concludes.
The race and The Sun Run capsule is available to see online, where you’ll soon find YMR Track Club’s fall collection, including performance wear from premium wool fabrics, knitted in Sweden.
