11 years old — and used — sweater wins Scandinavian Outdoor Award
Redefining sustainability and the way we think about outdoor clothing, according to the jury statement.
6 Dec 2022

For the latest edition of Scandinavian Outdoor Award, the jury accepted, and tested, new products for the coming fall/winter season, 2023/-24. Swedish base and mid-layer manufacturer Woolpower chose to send in a mid-layer sweater called Zip Turtleneck 200 that has been used for 11 years. First developed in the early 70s, Woolpower’s fabric Ullfrotté Original has been used in the garment since 1972. The pilling shows that this is a used product. However, according to the jury, the sweater still functions and performs to full content, applauding the durable fabric and choosing it for the most prestigious prize, Overall Winner.

The second most prestigious award, the Sustainability Award, goes to Hestra Gloves, for the new Alpine Pro Mono Wool — an old design that, the statement said, has been reworked to be completely sustainable without losing its durability, function, or comfort.
