During London Fashion Festival, Dezeen teamed up with Planted to create a design show dedicated to reconnecting cities with nature and to present sustainable design brands and products. One of the designers that were highlighted for their work in sustainability and longevity were well-established Finnish design brand Iittala.

— As a company based in Scandinavia, where quality, aesthetics and functionality are important values, Iittala believes in design that lasts a lifetime. We believe people have the right to expect the design they buy to last a lifetime. We also see that the world is becoming more and more aware of the value of long-lasting design, said the brand to Dezeen.

Originally founded in 1881 as a glasswork manufacturer, Iittala has turned into one of the most prominent designer brands out of Scandinavia. Some of the brand’s original designs from over 80 years ago are still being reproduced. Like the Teema Honey dish, originally created in the 1950s by Kaj Francks, that has been given a bright yellow colour update for 2020 and will hopefully stay on trend for another 80 years.

The Deseen x Planted show also highlighted the Raami collection that is made out of the waste glass at the Iittala Glass Factory. Other collections that were presented as prolonged designs were Kuru ceramic dishes, Ruutu vases, and Nappula pots.
